The Angry Videogame Nerd
www.cinemassacre.com
James Rolfe is the best at what he does. Period. There are dozens if not hundreds of imitators to his "Angry Nerd" persona, yet all lack the talent, creativity and effort James puts into it. The Angry Videogame Nerd, or AVGN, is a celeb amongst gamers who love nostalgia, grew up in the 80s/early 90s and now have computers. In other words:me. His video series has yet to be topped and his website offers other videos for film fans as well. Worth your while. Posted at 12:54am on Fri, May 01 2009

That Guy With the Glasses
www.thatguywiththeglasses.com
A fantastic community and stockpile of some solid internet video series. Game reviews, comic reviews, animation retrospectives. It plays host, mainly, to the Nostalgia Critic. Doug in his various personas, like James with the AVGN, dig into the nostalgia of what people my agegrew up with. In his case, it's mainly movies and TV rather than videogames. Host to other talents such as Lindsay Ellis, the Nostalgia Chick (for a female perspective) and Linkara who knows more about comics while sleeping than I do awake. I highly recommend their linkssection as well which will lead you to similar sites. I can't even list all that are there, but Sage, Benzaie, Lee, Joe and Spoony (which I'll get to below). It's a cornucopia of twenty-somethings overflowing and oozing with pus-filled nostalgia...tasty. Posted at 12:55am on Fri, May 01 2009

The Spoony Experiment
www.spoonyexperiment.com
Noah Antwiller is, in my mind, the smartest internet celeb out there.Maybe not stats and numbers smart, but with his speech and way to present his case to the the judging readers/viewers (he writes as well as have videos). He brings out the best in ranting, raving, criticizingand, being a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, I can appreciate his game playthrough and riffs right alongside them. While I know he loathes doing it, going by his message board comments, his Final Fantasy VIII series is one of the best things on the 'net now. If you're not a Final Fantasy fan, I highly recommend the Phantasmagoria series as well. You'll catch on to what Spoony is about quickly by watching those. Posted at 12:58am on Fri, May 01 2009

Retroware TV

Another nostalgia site, but this one gets propped because they started hosting the Happy Video Game Nerd's videos (previously only on youtube). Derek Alexander has grown since his first video and is really coming into his own, for a "happy" take on nostalgic videogames, check him out Posted at 12:59am on Fri, May 01 2009

IGN Boards

Probably the best message boards out there. A little something for everyone. They need to get rid of some dead boards and do avoid the Vestibule if possible. Posted at 1:01am on Fri, May 01 2009

Zero Punctuation
www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation
If you don't have the time to sit and read articles or watch the 10minute videos of those above, perhaps 3-4 minute quirky animations depicting the horrors of videogames suit you. Narrated and created by Ben "Yahtzee" Crowshaw, ZP takes a Monty-Python style of flash animations and cynical observations. Not much of a praiser of things, and downright brutal on some reviews, Yahtzee's sharp-tongue and sharp editing makes the point quickly, efficiently and humorously. Movie Bob/Game Overthinker
www.youtube.com/user/moviebob?blend=1&ob=4
Recently added to The Escapist alongside Zero Punctuation, you can see a lot of similarities. You never see who is narrating, they often speak fast and add in humor when needed while still making points. WhileYahtzee is a game reviewer, MovieBob is more an analyst. He brings up issues on videogames, from racisim to the misuse of Sonic and, for the most part, makes some solid points. New on the scene, and apparently labeled a "Nintendo Fanboy" but seems like a standup guy. Posted at 1:07am on Fri, May 01 2009
